Can you re-use my grandmother’s wedding ring making it into a contemporary design?

Yes, I can recycle heirloom jewellery that has sentimental value for you into a new wedding ring or engagement ring design.

How long will it take to create my ring?

I can usually complete your wedding/engagement rings in around 4 weeks. This will involve an initial appointment at my studio in London, SE1 (or by Zoom if getting to London is not an option for you) and once the design has been agreed a follow-up appointment a week or so later to check wax model sizes (which can be done by post if more convenient) then I can complete the rings ready for you to collect from the studio or have posted to you.

If you would like to have an initial chat about your requirements please use the contact form or drop me a line at bespoke@tawnyphillips.com

Will you design and make my wedding ring?

You will deal with me from first contact, through the design process and finally when you collect your finished pieces. I personally design and hand carve every ring commission. I provide a personal service and aim to create exactly what you want so you will have plenty of input (or as little as you like) throughout.

I can source a selection of precious stones for you to choose from and explore hand-engraving ideas you may have and am happy to let the process unfold so there is no pressure to have very clear ideas about what you want initially

Will you keep me updated throughout?

I will keep in touch with you by email through the whole commission process and from the offset give you an anticipated date your commission will be ready to collect from the studio

How can I decide which precious metal to choose?

I work in all carats and colours of gold including white, rose, yellow as well as platinum. I do not recommend sterling silver a wedding ring as it is considered a soft metal and will mark and scratch too easily to make it a good long term proposition for a ring worn every day.

For white metal I always recommend platinum as it is the hardest white metal available. I can show you samples of all these precious metals at the studio and help you make this decision. For more information read All About Gold

Can you design a surprise engagement ring for my partner?

Yes. I have made many surprise commissions in the past. Have a look at  Engagement Rings  where you will find all the information you need here or in my blog Planning a Christmas Proposal.  If you have any further questions please contact me directly at bespoke@tawnyphillips.com

Can you make matching wedding and non-matching rings?

Yes. I’ve found many clients prefer just the precious metals of their rings to match but choose entirely different ring styles to suit their personality. I can of course make matching wedding rings too or just match subtle design elements to create two linked by different wedding rings

Will my ring be hallmarked?

Yes. All the precious metals used in my rings designs are appropriately hallmarked by the London Assay Office. Read more about hallmarks and precious metals here All About Gold

Can you source diamonds and precious stones for my design?

Yes. I use reputable precious stone suppliers in Hatton Garden, London’s jewellery quarter, who can provide many types of certificated and uncertificated diamonds and precious stones such as rubies, emeralds, sapphires and semi-precious gems to suit your budget and design.

For more diamond info please read Choosing a Diamond

Do you design and make other types of jewellery?

Yes. I can create most jewellery items including earrings, bracelets and necklaces by recycling existing stones and precious metals you already have.

I will also be launching a small shop with a variety of made to order jewellery items in Spring 2024
